We are proud to share with you the first smoked black tea produced in Africa that we sourced directly from the Satemwa Tea Estate in Malawi. The leaves of this black tea were harvested by hand and completely oxidized. The tea is then smoked with guava wood to give a rich and subtle flavor, a style inspired by Lapsang Souchong (Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong) from China, a black tea smoked with pinewood. Thyolo Moto is made with the Thyolo cultivar, named after the city and local district. This tea was named after the local town of Bvumbwe, Malawi. Compared to other black teas, it is less oxidized, resulting in a light, amber liquor. The flavor profile includes hints of sweet spices, mandarins, and dark chocolate with the classic malty black tea flavor.
